June 30, 2026 — Hatillo, Puerto Rico. XZERTA has begun construction of its renewable energy project in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to helping build a cleaner, more resilient and affordable energy future for the island.
The project is designed to combine 60 MW of solar photovoltaic generation with 120 MW of battery energy storage. Grid interconnection is currently anticipated in 2028.
As part of its mission to help lower electricity costs, XZERTA will supply energy to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) at a starting contracted generation price of 9.9 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), among the lowest generation costs in Puerto Rico. The project is also expected to generate 65 jobs.
The site also supports a longstanding dairy farming operation, reflecting XZERTA’s commitment to responsible land use and the coexistence of renewable energy and local agriculture.
Construction is an important step toward delivering affordable, clean and abundant energy while supporting the Hatillo community.
